About Ortega PCA

Welcome

Ortega Presbyterian is a congregation bound together by God’s Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ. The good news of God’s Son has formed us to be a worshiping community in covenant with God and to make disciples of Christ through the means he has appointed.

The church is located in the Old Ortega neighborhood of Jacksonville; just off Roosevelt Blvd and halfway between downtown Jax and Orange Park on Jacksonville’s near west side. Ortega Pres is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

Our worship is saturated with Scripture. We seek to read the Word, hear the Word, preach the Word, sing the Word, and see the Word in the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We desire that our worship be biblical, Spirit-filled, reverent, joyful, and hospitable to those who join us.

What We Believe

As a Presbyterian and Reformed Church, we ground all we believe upon the inerrant, infallible, inspired Word of God—the Holy Bible, our only rule of faith and life. We hold without reservation to the truth of that Word as expressed in the historic creeds of the church (e.g., the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed), and the great truths found in the confessional documents of the Protestant Reformation. Our beliefs are most fully articulated in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, which are the official doctrinal standards of our denomination. Ministry Staff

Rev. Josh Hinson

Pastor

Josh was born in Jacksonville and raised nearby in the small town of Hilliard, near the Florida/Georgia line. He has been married to Christen since 2003 and they have four children: Camdyn (who is married to Rebecca), Cayde, Carsyn, and Carolyne. Josh has served in youth ministry and church planting in North Carolina and Georgia, is a graduate of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and was called to be Ortega’s pastor in 2017.

Kevin Morris

Pastoral Intern

Kevin is a native of the surrounding Jacksonville area and has been privileged to serve God’s people in both full-time and bi-vocational ministry at different churches since 2011. He received his undergraduate degree in theology from Moody Bible Institute and currently is a graduate student at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Kevin, alongside his wife and two children, has been part of Ortega since 2019.
